AUC Centennial Commemorative Coin

Design team: Ahmad Khalil, Ingy Fawzy, Lana Kurdi, Mariam Ibrahim, and Mariem Abutaleb

Instructed by Ghalia ElSrakbi and Nagla Samir

As Co-chair of the Materials and Collateral Taskforce for the American University Centennial Committee, I proposed a commemorative coin on the occasion, to be designed by students and minted by the Egyptian government.

Design team brought in collective visions of students Ahmad Khalil, Ingy Fawzy, Lana Kurdi, Mariam Ibrahim, and Mariem Abutaleb. Instructed by Ghalia ElSrakbi and myself.

Inspired by the arches as a significant architectural representation of both Tahrir and New Cairo campuses, the coin symbolizes the transition of a 100 years’ legacy.

Furthermore, students designed a unique complementary display box for the coin.

Coin is of two editions; EGP100 Silver coin, and a limited edition of EGP1 Golden coin.
